Report: Actor Owen Wilson Rushed to Hospital in Santa Monica, Calif.

DEVELOPING STORY: Actor Owen Wilson reportedly was hospitalized Sunday afternoon in Santa Monica, Calif., after being treated at his home by EMTs, according to the National Enquirer and Star magazine.

The tabloid publications claim Wilson was transported by ambulance to St. John's Health Center after cutting his left wrist and taking an undetermined number of pills.

Wilson was discovered just before noon at his home by a family member who called 911 for help, the tabloids reported.

TMZ has confirmed that Owen Wilson was taken to the hospital Sunday in Los Angeles.

Santa Monica Police issued the following statement to TMZ: "On Sunday Aug. 26. 2007 at 12:10 PM, officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a medical assistance call from the Santa Monica Fire Department at the 900 block of 23rd Street. The person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated."

TMZ has learned the 911 call came in at 11:59 AM to the L.A. Fire Department.

Citing medical privacy laws, they would not release any additional information, nor would they comment on why he was transported.

A call to Owen's rep was not immediately returned.

That question has been burning up phone lines in Hollywood ever since the "Wedding Crashers" actor was rushed to the hospital Sunday after Santa Monica police officers responded to a medical aid call at his home.

One of his neighbors, Geoffrey White, told The Associated Press that a police car, ambulance and fire truck responded to Wilson's house around noon Sunday, wheeled out a stretcher and went inside the home.

Currently, Wilson is receiving care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. After initial reports that his condition was serious, a spokesman for the hospital said that he is presently "in good condition."

Wilson was reportedly discovered at his home by his brother Andrew and treated there before being brought to the hospital.

According to "Entertainment Tonight," Wilson was at the hospital to undergo detoxification and was visited there by Andrew, younger brother Luke and his parents.

Wilson's publicist would not respond to reports that Wilson's wrists were slashed or that he had taken an overdose of pills.

The actor's representative issued a statement from the actor that read, "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."

Seemingly Perfect Life
Meanwhile, his fans and colleagues were left to wonder how the perennially good-natured comedic actor, nicknamed "The Butterscotch Stallion" for his womanizing ways, could be struggling.

Wilson has been romantically linked to numerous women, from Demi Moore to Sheryl Crow, and reportedly has a healthy appetite for the night life. But since breaking up with actress Kate Hudson just before Memorial Day weekend, he's been much quieter.

The latest paparazzi sightings of him were in June, where he was seen walking with an unidentified woman. And one of People magazine's spies spotted him yachting in the Mediterranean early in August.

Wilson's current film project, "Tropic Thunder," is filming on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. An assistant for the film's production company could not say whether Wilson's hospitalization would interrupt filming of the movie, which also stars Wilson's frequent sidekick Ben Stiller.

It's not clear what difficulties Wilson is struggling with. Numerous comedians, from Jim Carrey to Sarah Silverman, have epitomized the cliche of the sad clown, struggling with depression.

Actor Owen Wilson released a statement to the media today asking that he be left alone after being hospitalized.

"I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time," Wilson said in a statement issued to celebrity news outlet TMZ.com.

The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles confirmed today that Wilson was admitted to the hospital Sunday night. A spokesperson told the syndicated entertainment show "Extra" that the actor is in "good condition."

According to reports in Star magazine and the National Enquirer, Wilson was transported by paramedics on Sunday to a California hospital after a possible suicide attempt.

The Santa Monica Police Department issued a statement Sunday saying it made a joint response with fire department paramedics to a medical aid call at Wilson's Santa Monica address.

"A person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated," the release stated. "Due to HIPAA medical privacy laws, no further information is being released."

But Star magazine and the National Enquirer jointly reported Sunday night that Wilson, the star of popular comedies including "Wedding Crashers" and "You, Me and Dupree," had slit his left wrist and taken unidentified pills in an attempt to kill himself.

Wilson was transported to Saint John's Health Center after being discovered by a family member who called 911, the publications reported.

"Entertainment Tonight" reported that the actor was transferred to Cedars-Sinai to receive detoxification treatment. Wilson's actor-brother Luke was seen leaving the Beverly Hills' treatment center.

Wilson, 38, has starred in a number of successful films, including "The Royal Tenenbaums," for which he earned a writing Academy Award nomination, and "Zoolander."

The member of Hollywood's "Frat Pack" and a notorious bachelor nicknamed "the Butterscotch Stallion" was last reportedly involved with actress Kate Hudson. The relationship ended in June.

Yeh no kidding. All the way back to bottle rocket every movie of his I have seen I have liked. Im sure his career is doing as good or better than anybody else's.
